A pearl in North Holland
Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar is one of the oldest museums in the Netherlands and connects people, art and history. The museum presents a fine collection of ancient and modern art and high-profile temporary exhibitions. During school vacations there are workshops for children of all ages and in the museum store you can find original gifts. In the museum café you can enjoy fair trade coffee, homemade soup or delicious pastries.
The Bergen School
Lovers of the Bergen School movement will enjoy the museum. The permanent exhibition features the oeuvres of artists such as Else Berg, Mommie Schwarz, Leo Gestel, Dirk Filarski, Gerrit Willem van Blaaderen, Arnout Colnot and Piet and Matthieu Wiegman.
ANBI
Since January 1, 2014, Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar has become an independent foundation with a Supervisory Board. The museum is listed in the Dutch Museum Register and has carried the Museum Card since 2000. Stichting Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar is registered with the tax authorities as an institution for general benefit (ANBI).
