Building the museum of the future

The Jonge Lichting is a platform for young people aged 16 to 26 in North Holland who want to make their voices heard within the museum world. From their own perspective they reflect on museum collections, society and themselves - shaping the stories of today and the future.

The Jonge Lichting is a four-year collaboration between Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar, the Frans Hals Museum and the Amsterdam Museum, with the aim of making museums more relevant to North Holland's young people. This project is made possible by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.

Soon we will be looking for the Young Talent of 2026-2027. Keep an eye on our channels!

The Young Direction 2025 - 2026

The first cohort has completed their year at Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar, and we have now said goodbye to Anna, Ayinda, Isabella, Jesse, Louise, Quint, and Rebekka. They have worked with our collection and programming over the past year, taking their first steps into the cultural sector.
