The Museum Mural, a collection piece from Allemaal Alkmaar, can be seen in Alkmaar's Overdie neighborhood. A meter-high mural by artist duo TelmoMiel, created for the Museum Murals project.
The 26-meter-high mural is the latest addition to Alkmaar's city collection. TelmoMiel is painting the portrait of Maria Tesselschade, a famous resident of Alkmaar of whom no portrait exists (yet). Her personal belongings have been excavated in the city center and are now a permanent part of All Alkmaar, this portrait is the contemporary addition of this famous woman from Alkmaar.
De Vooruitgang' apartment building in Alkmaar's Overdie neighborhood is being completely refurbished by housing corporation Woonwaard; residents had a say in the choice of the final design. The unveiling of the meters-high artwork will be celebrated with the residents on Friday, July 5, with a neighborhood picnic at festival Move the City.
Museum Murals is an initiative of the Mauritshuis and is made possible by participants of the Friends Lottery.
