Car
By car you can approach Alkmaar from different directions. From the N9 take the exit to the Bergerweg. On the Bergerweg, go straight ahead at the traffic circle and the first traffic lights. At the second traffic lights, turn left onto the Stationsweg. Follow this road until you reach the traffic lights at the t-junction. Turn right onto the Helderseweg. From here you can drive to various parking facilities.
You can also stay on the Bergerweg by going straight ahead at the second traffic lights, you will end up on the Scharlo. From this road you come to a large traffic circle, here you take the third exit towards the Geestersingel. After this, immediately turn right again onto the Bergerbrug. Keep going straight here, the road turns into Zevenhuizen and Gasthuisstraat. At the end of Gasthuisstraat, turn right onto Bagijnenstraat. Here you will find on your left Parking garage the Great Church.
From the provincial road the N242 take the exit towards Avenhorn, Zaanstad and Purmerend. In the bend, keep right and take the exit to the right towards Centrum. You will end up on the Nieuwe Schermerweg. Keep following this road until you see the Friese brug. Here the road becomes the Randersdijk. You can follow the Randersdijk, which turns into the Kwakelkade to get to the parking lots Ringers and De Kwakel.
Public transportation
Alkmaar Station
Station Alkmaar ligt op zo’n 10 minuten lopen afstand van het museum. Loop het station aan centrumzijde uit. Ga aan de overzijde naar rechts. Hierna volg je de weg met de bocht mee naar links. Deze weg loop je helemaal uit. Hier is een zebrapad die richting een brug gaat. Loop over het zebrapad en de brug. Ga hier rechtdoor, richting de Grote Kerk die je boven de huizen uit kunt zien. Aan je linkerhand zie je de ingang van de bibliotheek, als je deze voorbij loopt en om het gebouw heen naar links gaat loop je het Canadaplein op. Hier bevindt zich de ingang van Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar.
