Offering (art) objects
A significant portion of the museum's collection has been acquired as a loan, legacy, or donation from private individuals or foundations. Are you considering giving an (art) object in your possession a place in Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar? Please feel free to contact us without obligation.
Because we invest a lot of time and money in our collection, we carefully consider every addition to it. To do this, we need as much information as possible about the offered objects.
How do I offer items?
Send an email to info@museumalkmaar.nl with the following information:
- Object information: artist, material, technique, title, year, dimensions
- Photos of the front and back of the object
- Provenance information: how and when did you acquire the object, who were previous owners?
- Status of the work
- The relationship with the Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar collection
- Form of transfer: would you like to donate it, give it on long-term loan, or sell it? In case of sale, please state the asking price
What happens next?
Potentially interesting items are submitted to the acquisition committee, where it is assessed whether an object fits into our collection. Because the acquisition committee only meets once a month and we want to work carefully, it may take a few weeks before you receive a response.
NOTE: Never bring objects to the museum without an appointment. They will not be accepted.
