Victoria Fund Cultural Prize Visual Arts 2026

The visual artist living in Alkmaar Inderjeet Sandhu will receive the Victoriefonds Culture Prize Visual Arts 2026 in October 2026. In honor of the prize, the Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar is showing a selection of the work of this remarkable contemporary artist.

Dutch-Indonesian Inderjeet Sandhu (1986) moves in his work between art, design, and societal themes. Sandhu sees the house not only as a place of comfort and safety, but also as a place where personal stories and world history converge. He gives everyday objects new meaning: what first seems familiar can also raise questions about origin, cultural adaptation, and colonial history. In this way, Sandhu shows how global themes are present in everyday life.

The HuisRAAD exhibition is made possible by the Cultuurprijs regio Alkmaar Foundation and Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar. The exhibition runs from June 26 to November 8, 2026.
