The visual artist living in Alkmaar Inderjeet Sandhu receives the Victoriefonds Culture Prize Visual Arts 2026 in October 2026. In honor of the prize, Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar will showcase this remarkable contemporary artist

Dutch-Indonesian Inderjeet Sandhu (1986) works at the intersection of art, design, and societal themes. Sandhu sees the house not only as a place of comfort and safety, but also as a place where personal stories and world history converge. He gives everyday objects new meaning: what first seems familiar can also raise questions about origin, cultural adaptation, and colonial history. In this way, Sandhu shows how global themes are present in everyday life.

The HuisRAAD exhibition is made possible by the Cultuurprijs regio Alkmaar Foundation and Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar. The exhibition runs from June 26 to November 8, 2026.
