Artist Inderjeet Sandhu at Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar
Exhibition HuisRAAD shows where the political and the personal meet
Alkmaar, July 20, 2026 – Visual artist Inderjeet Sandhu, residing in Alkmaar, will receive the Victoriefonds Culture Prize Visual Arts 2026 in October 2026. To mark this special honor, the Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar is presenting the exhibition HuisRAAD, featuring a selection of his work. The exhibition will be on display until November 8, 2026.
The house as a mirror of society
In his work, Inderjeet Sandhu (1986) moves between art, design, and societal issues. The house serves as a recurring starting point. For Sandhu, the house is not only a place of comfort and security, but also a place where personal memories, identity, and world history intersect.
By giving everyday objects new meaning, Sandhu invites visitors to look at the world around them differently. His work touches upon themes such as origin, cultural adaptation, migration, and the ongoing impact of the colonial past on daily life.
Victory Fund Prize for Visual Arts
The Victoriefonds Culture Prize Visual Arts honors an artist from the region who has developed in a special way and makes a valuable contribution to the visual arts. The exhibition HuisRAAD is a beautiful tribute to Sandhu's oeuvre and offers visitors the opportunity to experience his work up close.
