Municipal elections: vote at night at the museum
Voting has never been more of an art than during the upcoming municipal elections on March 18, 2026. Residents of Alkmaar can cast their votes this year at a historic location, namely Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar. So voting is not only possible in an ordinary polling station, but also at special locations in the city.
Voting at midnight
On the night of March 17 to 18, it will be possible to attend between 00 a.m. and 02 a.m. to vote at Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar. Visitors can view the exhibition Alkmaar in Pictures for free after voting.

Iconic black-and-white photographs by renowned photographers Maria Austria, Eva Besnyö, Henk Jonker and Ad Windig from the 1950s will be shown again in it for the first time since their creation.
In addition, the museum presents new work by contemporary photographer Jonne Lucia. who was inspired by her predecessors and captured the Alkmaar of today. The result is an extraordinary visual encounter between past and present.
