Gestel and De Smet: Friends opening

Friday, April 24

Retrieved from Friday morning, April 24, at 10 a.m. the museum is hosting a special Friends opening of the exhibition Gestel and De Smet - Colorful friendship. Guest curator and curator of the exhibition, Kees van der Geer, will provide a substantive explanation of the exhibition, after which you can view the exhibition for yourself. Kees will also walk around the room to answer any questions you may have.

Much was already known about the life and work of Leo Gestel and Gustave De Smet, but their mutual influence, especially during difficult and vulnerable periods, had not previously been extensively researched. Thanks to the thorough research of guest curator and author of the publication Kees van der Geer, new insights have emerged. He found previously unpublished letters and combined them with recently discovered archival material, revealing new connections between the artists.

The Friends opening starts at 10 a.m. Sign up by filling out the form below.
