Visual artist Marc Ruygrok is hosting two exclusive Gallery Talks on Thursday afternoon, March 5, to accompany the exhibition Letters become images. During this tour, he will discuss his methods, his fascination with letters and space, and the stories behind the artworks on display.

About Marc Ruygrok

Visual artist Marc Ruygrok (b. 1953) grew up next to the studio of his grandfather, sculptor Albert Termote. As a self-taught artist, he developed a completely unique, contemporary language of form in which letters and image merge.

Always working with text and three-dimensionality, Ruygrok moves at the intersection of typography and sculpture. His work is characterized by geometric simplicity - circles, spheres and cubes - and by a conscious dialogue between language and spatial form. Much of his work is realized in public space and is designed specifically for a site, with multiple layers of meaning. A well-known example is the ‘gas molecule’ along the A7, in which art and everyday life converge.
