Accessibility
Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar would like everyone to feel welcome at our museum. We make every effort to be as accessible as possible to everyone. Tips or comments, please let us know via: info@museumalkmaar.nl.
Entrance and exhibitions
There is an elevation in front of the museum entrance. On the right side of the entrance, past the Artiance entrance and under the glass walkway, is a ramp for rollators, wheelchairs and mobility scooters.
From the entrance hall, the permanent exhibitions on levels -1 and 1 can be reached by elevator. The temporary exhibitions are on the first floor and can be reached from the entrance hall.
If you have trouble opening hall doors, be sure to ask one of our attendants to help, they will be happy to do so.
Custom toilet
An adapted restroom is available on the first floor of the museum. The restroom is located next to the elevator.
Borrowing a wheelchair
The museum has two loaner wheelchairs. There are also folding chairs for loan that you can use in the exhibition rooms. You can reserve a wheelchair or folding chair in advance by calling 072-5489789.
Assistance Dog
Pets are not allowed in the museum except recognized assistance or guide dogs.
Free admission for companion
Companions of people with disabilities receive free admission to the museum.

The museum restaurant and store are located on the first floor and are easily accessible by wheelchair, walker or mobility scooter.
Quiet moments of visitation
Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar is a well-visited museum. On Tuesday mornings, Thursday afternoons and Saturday and Sunday mornings, the museum is generally a little quieter.
Parking disabled spaces
This website lists the public disabled parking spaces. The closest to the museum is in the Mill neighborhood.

Be careful because the museum is in a car-free area. There are signs at the entry area, after 11 a.m. you cannot enter the Canadaplein by car without a permit. If you do, you will automatically be fined. You can also choose to get out in front of the library on Gasthuisstraat and walk 100 meters to the museum. If necessary, you can pick up the free museum wheelchair to transport someone from the car to the museum.
