The Young Founder
Building the museum of the future
The Jonge Lichting is a platform for young people aged 16 to 26 in North Holland who want to make their voices heard within the museum world. From their own perspective they reflect on museum collections, society and themselves - shaping the stories of today and the future.
The Jonge Lichting is a four-year collaboration between Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar, the Frans Hals Museum and the Amsterdam Museum, with the aim of making museums more relevant to North Holland's young people. This project is made possible by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.

What makes Alkmaar Alkmaar
Currently, The Youngichting is working on a participation project for the photo exhibition Alkmaar in Pictures. To this end, they are calling on Alkmaar residents to be inspired by the exhibition and to visualize Alkmaar themselves. Everyone can share a story, photo or perspective that, according to them, makes Alkmaar Alkmaar. All images will be collected by De Jonge Lichting and given a place in the exhibition. This will create a portrait of the city that is not only made by the photographers, but also by the people who make Alkmaar Alkmaar.
Would you also like to participate? You can!
You can participate in one of the workshops Or send an image yourself to dejongelichting@museumalkmaar.nl and who knows, maybe you'll see your entry in our museum.
