Employee De Jonge Lichting ’26 – ’27 at Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar

Help build the museum of the future

Are you between 16 and 26 years old and ready for a next step? Do you want to work with and learn from museums, artists, and cultural professionals?

Apply for De Jonge Lichting at Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar from October 2026 to June 2027. Get to work with us on an exhibition, event, podcast, game, or other cool idea. Together with a group of six other young people, you will work weekly on projects about themes that matter to you.

What will you do?
  •  You contribute ideas for exhibitions, create programs, and organize activities
  • You contribute creative ideas to involve young people in the museum
  • You create content via the museum's social channels and De Jonge Lichting: think of TikTok and Instagram
  • You collaborate with other young people and museum teams
Who are you?
  • You are between 16 and 26 years old and live in the Alkmaar (region)
  • You are curious, full of ideas, and enjoy being creative.
  • You are available from October 2026 through June 2027 on Thursdays from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
  • Except for school holidays and public holidays
  • In addition, you are sometimes available on Saturdays (3 times a year: Oct 3, Jan 16, Apr 3)
  • You enjoy working together in a team
  • Experience in the cultural sector is not necessary
What do you get in return?
  • Three times a year an inspiring meet-up with the youth departments of the French
  • Haarlem Museum and the Amsterdam Museum
  • To gain experience with skills that you will benefit from for the rest of your life
  • Workshops to develop yourself further
  • A gross hourly wage of €15.37, a year-end bonus of 3.4%, and vacation pay of 8% (under the museum collective bargaining agreement), and a
  • Museumjaarkaart.
  • Contract for 4 hours per week for the period from October 2026 to June 2027 (you are off during school holidays)

Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar on September 19. In the questionnaire, you can indicate your preferred time slot.
