Following the great success of the exhibition The Kremer Collection – a shared love The renowned Kremer Collection is back at the Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar. The Kremer family and the museum have expressed their intention to house this rich collection, featuring masterpieces by artists such as Rembrandt, Frans Hals, and Pieter de Hooch, at the museum for an extended period. Thanks to the museum's expansion plans, it will be possible to give this remarkable private collection a permanent home.

Those who don't want to miss Dutch and Flemish 17th-century works for too long need not worry. Until the full collection can be seen in the museum, Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar is showing a series of intimate focus exhibitions, each highlighting a different theme from the collection. Starting September 11th, The Kremer Collection x Alkmaar – Belief to see.

The starting point of this exhibition is the Luther cabinet from the collection of the Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar. This remarkable piece of furniture is decorated with painted scenes on the theme of faith. Surrounding it are works from the Kremer Collection, each telling its own story. They reveal something about the artist's beliefs, or indeed about the collector's. Together, the artworks transport you to the seventeenth century. How did people think? What did they find important? And above all: what did they believe in?

At the same time, the exhibition invites you to reflect on your own beliefs. What drives you? What does belief mean to you? Does it have to do with religion, or rather with trust and conviction? Perhaps you believe above all in yourself, or in the people closest to you.
