Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar is an enterprising art and cultural history museum strongly rooted in the city and the region, with a high-quality collection and exhibitions of (inter)national significance. The museum receives approximately 60,000 visitors annually. With three program lines - old masters of the 16th and 17th centuries, early 20th-century art around the Bergen School and current and cultural-historical themes - the museum offers a diverse range of exhibitions, educational programs and activities. And aims to further broaden the public reach in the coming years and to be a museum where everyone feels welcome.

Team Reception and Security is responsible for the overall security of our museum objects and building and ensures the safety of visitors and employees in the museum. The team opens and closes the building, performs checks according to applicable protocols and supervises internal collection transports.

We are seeking for Team Reception and Security a

Officer Reception and Security for 24-28 hours per week

What will you do?

As an employee Reception and Security you are the first point of contact for our guests and visitors and make sure everyone feels welcome and safe. You have an eye for detail, know how to act quickly and correctly in different situations. This includes the following duties:

• You perform security work and, according to instructions, run the opening and closing rounds
• You proactively oversee the safety of visitors and the museum collection, acting in accordance with applicable instructions
• You will patrol the exhibition halls, supervise from the internal control room and assist in opening and closing the building
• You perform emergency response and evacuation duties in the event of an emergency
• You will perform cash register and counter duties and provide visitors with concise information about the museum and programming
• You will answer the phone and maintain the general museum calendar
• You will assist with openings, activities and events
• You will perform general support work as needed

What do you bring?

We are looking for an enthusiastic, customer-oriented, accurate, presentable and proactive colleague who enjoys working as part of a team. Furthermore, you bring with you:

• You are in possession of the basic diploma security guard (MBO 2) and you are of impeccable conduct
• You hold a valid FAFS certificate or are willing to obtain one
• You are flexible and willing to work alternating shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays
• You master the Dutch and English language
• Obtaining a VOG and a security pass is a prerequisite
• Affinity with the history of and art from the Alkmaar region and work experience in (museum) security are a plus.

What do we offer you?

We offer a dynamic and challenging work environment, with room to develop yourself. The salary is gross up to € 3,111 (scale 4) per month based on 36 hours. This is excluding 8% vacation allowance and 3,4% end of year allowance. Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar applies the Museum CAO and is affiliated with the ABP pension fund. In addition, we have a favorable travel allowance and you will receive an annual Museum card. The appointment is initially for one year, with a view to permanent employment.
